I did an accumulator yesterday, of Man City, Spurs, Rangers, Laying Southampton, Leicester and Boro. Rangers let me down with an 87th minute own goal to make it 1-1.
But then the day was saved by a certain Robin Van full of Parsley. I cannot “research” live delay-react-trade bets, but a nice lay of the Hammers at 2-1 up late on paid off handsomely.
Why not back United you might ask? It was a time thing. There was enough time to get the one goal, but perhaps not 2 the way the Hammers were set up.
Cue a Ryan Giggs pass of joy, into the path of RVP who dispatched a beauty to make the Rangers own goal a distant memory. There were no great shocks amongst the shorties. They all behaved themselves in scoring the requisite amount of goals their odds suggested.
Do note today that we are in the midst of a January Transfer Window and I for one am not privy to the comings and goings of major sides just yet. We saw yesterday with Joe Cole and Demba Ba that new team mates really can have a huge influence. This is the X factor for me today and something missing from research
Baby nephews coming round today so I’m frantically trying to do what I can, so don’t expect a full program while I am with family.
115pm – Epinal v Lyon – 1.3 away – 19th in the Nacional table play 2nd in the top flight. Only 1 draw in last 9 for home side was a 3-3. Only 1 win in 14 at home sees them in poor form and playing a side from the top flight in obvious good form.
In the Cup Epinal are yet to meet any big guns.
Only 2 defeats in last 14 for Lyon. 5 clean sheets in last 7 matches sees them defensively sound of late.
Only 2 wins away in last 7. Lyon have only been beaten twice in 90 minutes in last 18 Cup matches. Lyon are unbeaten in their last 6 aways in the Cup.
Angles in? Note the fact Lyon seem defensively sound. That may indicate a clean sheet so perhaps a win to nil correct score for the away side. Epinal have a very poor home record which suggests they will not win today. A strong Lyon outfit should see a comfortable away win , possibly to nil. 0-2, 0-3 would be my starting points to enhance the odds. Remember though that this is the Cup and Epinal might surprise, although it looks unlikely.
115pm – Marseille v Guingamp – 1.48 home. Monstrous Fuckwit Joey Barton’s new home. 3rd in ligue 1 v 5th in ligue 2 so this could be a toughie for Marseille if Guincamp are up for the cup?
No draw in last 10 for Marseille who won their last 3 pre Xmas matches 1-2, 1-0, 0-1.
Marseille have only won 2 of their last 8 matches at home, 2 1-0 wins. A whiff of a cup upset today?
4 of last 6 cup matches have featured 4 or more goals so MArseille could let loose if allowed. Their last 5 cup defeats have all come away
Only 2 teams have beaten Marseille at home since 2005 in the Cup in 90 minutes.
Guincamp are unbeaten in 11 now with 3 consecutive draws. They have conceded 0-0-1-0-1-0 in last 6matches. Defensively sound?
Unbeaten away in last 6.
Only 3 defeats in last 12 aways in the Cup , 2 were 1-0 and the other a 3-2.
Angles in? Guincamp look sturdy opposition today and this has a feel of Premiership v in form Championship . This makes 1.48 not backable, but is it layable? Well, you’ll not be discouraged from laying odds on shos. MArseille are in poor home form with only 2 1-0 wins in last 8. In the Cup though, they could let goals flow. Do note Guincamp have conceded 0-0-1-0-1-0 in last 6 matches.
Not a match top of my list today, but I could see Marseille struggling if Guincamp bring their “a ” game defensively.
130pm – Swansea v Arsenal – 2.12 away – a tasty encounter. Note if Michu is out for Swans.
Only 3 defeats in 17 for Swans , 2 of which were 1-0 and one was 3-2. 3 draws in last 4.
Only 2 defeats in 16 at home for Swans sees them tough to beat. No real FA Cup form we can get anything from. Remember new manager too and Premiership at forefront of thoughts.
Only 2 defeats in last 14 for Arsenal in 90 minutes ( Bradford knocked them out in League cup on pens) includes a 2-0 defeat by Swansea.
Only 2 wins in last 11 away but only 1 defeat in last 8 away in all competitions for the Arse.
Arsenal’s last 3 defaets in the FA Cup have come a) away from home and b) against Prem opposition.Only 2 wins in last 8 away matches in the FA Cup.
2 consecutive 2-0 away defeats v United and Sunderland. THe probability of a 3rd consecutive 2-0 loss is small.
Angles in? Tough to call as team news is key here for the away side in particular. Home side might be tempted to change squad too making it difficult for punters. Swansea are tough to beat in all competitions. Only 2 defeats in 16 means that Arsenal are up against it, and if we see the likes of Gervinho playing, and Walcott resting, then I would be sweeter on opposing Arsenal. Arsenal’s last 3 cup defeats are away and against Premiership opponents, both of which are occuring today.
I am non committal here as team news will be key. If the odds allow, laying Arsenal halftime/fulltime might pay off. I would lay Arsenal if they score first, and early. Do note we have a Swansea side whose priority long term must be on Premiership survival above any kind of a cup run. At least that would be my priority if Chairman! Goals? Well arse have lost last 2 aways 2-0 in the cup. Overs will rely I suspect on both sides scoring. How much of a miss is Michu?
