Just ticking off my to-do list…

  • Guinness in fridge.
  • Additional postal staff employed to deal with the deluge of birthday wishes for 13th
  • Cheltenham tactics sorted out.

The 13th March sees the start of the four-day Cheltenham Festival and the first puzzler will be ground conditions.

The race cards for the 13th March show ‘good-to-soft’ ground. That is very optimistic given the weather the UK has been suffering recently.

So, be prepared.

This article is a must-read in preparation for possible heavy ground conditions.

There are only six horses highlighted in the article, but these horses’ chances of an improved run will increase dramatically the worse the ground conditions become.

I would like to do some Twitter live coverage for Cheltenham next week: @whatreallywins. I’m thinking 13:30 on 13th March. (As long as I am not invited out for a birthday meal – please note that!)

I will be shortlisting potential gambled-on horses following patterns at www.racingpost.com, www.sportinglife.com and via www.betfair.com’s markets themselves.

We had a wonderful end to Cheltenham last year on the Friday, with three wins and a 20/1-second in the final four races. More of that please!

So, I hope to see you on Twitter next week (13th March to be confirmed – Kelly Brook and Rachel Riley are cooking me a cake apparently).
