Premier League football returns this weekend. Let me share with you the key patterns this early season.

  • Both Tottenham and Liverpool have scored in their four matches.
  • Liverpool have led at halftime and fulltime in all four matches.
  • Two 1-2 losses at home for Newcastle. No draw for Arsenal who are on a run of scoring 2+ goals in three matches.
  • Huddersfield are yet to score two goals this season. No draw for Palace. Three consecutive defeats conceding two goals.
  • All wins for Chelsea scoring 2+ goals. No win for Cardiff scoring in only one match.
  • Bournemouth have scored two goals in each home match. At least one team has scored two goals in Leicester’s matches. Leicester have scored in all matches.
  • Man City have scored and conceded in three matches now, two at home.
  • Fulham have conceded two goals at least in all matches.
  • All wins for Watford scoring two goals at least. Man Utd have scored two goals in two away matches.
  • Two consecutive score draws at home for Wolves. Three losses, 2+ goals in total before halftime, 2+ goals conceded in those defeats for Burnley.
  • Both teams have scored in all of Everton’s matches, with three draws. West Ham have lost all matches conceding 3+ goals away.

This is how I research football matches. I look for patterns and ‘angles’ into the matches.

So, will Spurs and Liverpool both score? Will Liverpool score before halftime… again?

With Newcastle scoring and losing at home, what would you do if Newcastle scored first?

If Huddersfield are yet to score two goals this season, what would you do if Huddersfield score first?

Man City are scoring and conceding without losing.

West Ham, conceding seven goals in two matches, are layable surely, if scoring first against an Everton side scoring in all Everton matches.

As seasons progress, these patterns will get stronger. These stats patterns are great to know, especially if you are an in-play bettor.

Remember you can do this for all European league matches if you so desire (or yours truly can do this for you at www.delayreacttrade.com).

Onto the horses – Doncaster sees the St Leger meeting

Already with a 12/1 winner, I am looking to follow trainer Aidan O’Brien over this meeting. Today he runs Hence in the 13:50 and Gossamer Wings in the 14:25. These horses are backable each-way at decent odds.

Tomorrow, I am eyeing up Van Beethoven and Cardini in the 15:00 Champagne Stakes. Huge odds vs a 1/2 shot, they are not priced to be competitive. The sights of Ryan Moore and Seamie Heffernan makes these two very attractive each-way.

In the 15:35, O’Brien is mob-handed with five runners; one is Kew Gardens at 15/8. Southern France, under Seamie Heffernan, is my each-way play at 14/1 currently. No doubt one of O’Brien’s other runners will race better than the odds predict. The Pentagon will be my other play under Wayne Lordan each-way.

Good luck with your plays. Do remember that with these high-class meetings, past-winner trends can be an extremely effective way of finding potential winners: www.trendyrich.com is a free resource, as is www.thestatsdontlie.com.
