The lay of Poland was successful for the trader and for the bettor. I layed initially at 4.3 and backed off at nice odds once England took the lead.

Notts county v Sheff Utd – naughty me! I thought it was a league game and not a Johnston’s Paint trophy cup match, which would have altered the research considerably. Lesson learned! Check the competition!!!

1245pm – Home Utd v Tanjong Pagar Utd – 1.38 home – Singapore league. It’s a quiet day so worth a look. You can guess that the S stands for in S League, ( and it ain’t Singapore!). Yes this is a Sh*t League but on a quiet day I can see if I can justify the odds for the Home side.

4-2-6-6-3-3- scored by Home in recent head to heads, and then a 1-0 tanjong win last head to head scuppers the utter dominance.

10 out of the 14 goals scored in last few head to heads have been scored in the 2nd half. Are Tanjong adept at holding out for a time? If so, then we can delay entry into this match and hope for better odds?

Only 1 win in last 5 for Home United in the league and to be fair, last 4 matches were away from home.

Only Tampines and Armed Forces have beaten Home United at home in 2012, and on each count, Home did not score.

Tanjong’s 5 wins in 2012 have all been 1-0 , including a 1-0 against Home United in April. So you know your insurance bet – 0-1!!

Only 1 win in last 9 for Tanjong, and they failed to score in 6 of those matches. A rock solid run away from home in the league might sound an element of caution for Home backers. – WDWDD – only 1 goal conceded in those 5 matches was in a 1-1 draw latest.

ANGLES IN? Well 0-1 to Tanjong would be a good starting trade or insurance bet if you fancy Home United in the match odds.

Tanjong are obviously adept at defending, and this could be 0-0 for a while . Their last 2 wins away were 0-1 so this is what they would hope for today.

Can Home United revert to the 6’s and 3’s they’d been scoring in head to heads before being halted latest? With 10 of last 14 goals in Home matches scored in 2nd half, this could easily be draw at halftime, and a good 0-0 trade .

1pm – Slavia Mozyr v BATE Borisov – 1.45 away – we know Bate from the Champions League. Ah yes, the Belarussian Premier league. A constant source of viewing pleasure for me……………………………………………..NOT!

This is 1st v 9th in a league of 11. Whenever I see small leagues, I see lack of competition and a degree of natural over familiarity which could be a breeding ground for the odd shock result.

After a 7 year gap, Slavia are back in the Premier league and struggling. 5 of their 6 wins have come at home. Their only away win was care of a penalty and a 90th minute own goal – very lucky!

Slavia have lost at home 0-2 to 2nd and 3rd this season, and been beaten 2-1 by BATE at home. If we fancy Bate here, then look to a correct score where they score 2 minimum?  BATE were 2-0 up in recent head to head.

BATE have only lost 3 all season.  They are unbeaten in their last 11 away matches, and only lost the 1st match of the season away, 0-1.

8 clean sheets in those 11 away matches.  Possible win to nil? BATE beat bottom side 0-4 away this season. Are Slavia comparible with bottom side?

ANGLES IN? Slavia have already lost 0-2 to 2nd and 3rd at home, and are playing top today, who led 2-0 in last head to head.BATE are unbeaten in their last 11 away matches ,keeping 8 clean sheets.

530pm – CFR Cluj v Viitorul Constanta – 1.42 home – another recognisable team from European competition. 7th v 13th after 11 matches played. Cluj should be nearer the top.

Only 3 defeats for season for Cluj and they were away. 3-2, 1-2, 0-1. In the 3-2 they were actually leading 0-2!!

DWDDW at home. All draws score draws. Cluj have scored 3-2-2-5 in their last 4 home matches, but only managed 2 wins in those 4 matches!. Cluj have conceded 5 in their last 3 home matches. Are they vulnerable today?

Only 2 wins all season for Viitorul, one at home, and 1 away. 3 of 4 defeats this season were by a scoreline 2-1. Factor that in today?

2 consecutive 2-1 defeats. What are the chances of a 3rd consecutive 2-1 defeat? No team has yet to score more than 2 against Viit this season. Were that to continue, and you fancied the home side, then indeed a derivative of the 2 -0 scoreline is suggested.

Viit have scored in all away matches this season.

Speculative 2-0, 2-1  even 3-0 ( as Cluj have scored 12 in last 4 at home) seem obvious correct scores. Viit should not surprise but have the ability to get a goal.

815pm – Freamunde v Benfica – 1.16 away – Portugeuse Cup and I think you know by now what 1.16 suggests! Benfica are certainly capable but are they “up for the Cup”?

Only 1 win in their last six sees Freamunde in poor form. No draw in last 7 at home, but 5 defeats amongst that 7!

Freamunde have only been involved in this competition since 2009. They have lost 1-3 to Sporting Braga as recently as Jan 2010 – is this a guide as to how they perform against top sides in the Cup?

Only recent defeat for Benfica was against Barcelona, so no shame there!

Only 1 defeat in last 10 aways but 5 of those were draws. This suggests the draw is the worse case tonight for Benfica.

6 clean sheets in their last 8 Taco matches for benfica. The 2 where they did not keep a clean sheet, they lost 1-3 to Porto and 2-1 away to Maritimo.

6 consecutive clean sheets in the Taco ended with that 2-1 away defeat to Maritimo, were Benfica opened the scoring, via a penalty.

Benfica do have a Champions League match on the 23rd October. Will this have an impact on team selection today, or is 5 days ample time for R and R?

Benfica could conceivably win to nil as they have been adept at clean sheet-ery in this competition, especially away from home.

TEAM NEWS KEY for me re Benfica. I hope I can find more about it nearer kick off.
