7.45pm – Czech Republic v Portugal – 1.76 away

All of the odds on shots so far have been tradable if layed. Will this continue into the quarter finals?

What a shock that Russia did not progress from their group. A loss against Russia and a win against Poland 1-0 and Greece 2-1 sees the Czechs into the quarter finals.

These one off matches are toughies. It’s not a group match anymore. There are no permutations re: the results to affect motivation. It’s win or out!

On paper of course, it’s Ronaldo back in form, against Petr Cech who needs to go to Specsavers. Milan Baros up front? They should have stuck with menace Jurgen Kohler. It’s a totally uninspiring Czech side and logic points to Portugal not losing.

Jiracek is threat for the Czechs.

Portugal kept the Germans at bay for 72 minutes which surely hints at defensive solidity as the Germans are far more potent than the Czechs. Portugal have suddenly scored 5 in 2 matches where previously they had only scored 1 in 3 matches.

Remember Russia’s 4-1 win over the Czechs? That was not so long ago.

The Czechs are definitely layable. They are even more layable if scoring first. Ronaldo and Potugal scorecast for the speculative. Tough to get an angle in. Perhaps back 0-0 and hope for a bit of bus parking for 20 minutes?
