What a well behaved lot they were last night. Barcelona scored 3 , Bayern won 0-2 and Freiburg were not spanked, Man Utd won without conceding ( although they’re on the naughty step for only scoring 1), City beat an injury ravaged Wigan, Newcastle lost again v Stoke in a good unders trade ( note 0-0 at halftime despite 2-1 fulltime),  1.06 Levski get an extra scoop of ice cream for scoring 7 goals at odds of 1.06, Fenerbahce kept a clean sheet, Celtic scored 2 again ( well 4) to keep up their away goalscoring and historical superiority over Hearts, Chelsea v Fulham was a very tight match, both teams scored in the Everton v Arsenal match and Everton ended their WD sequence at home ,Norwich kept Saints to 1 goal only to continue their excellent defensive displays, Fiorentina scored 2 , and Barca won and conceded as they have in their last 3 2nd leg cup matches at home.

If only every day was like yesterday, I wouldn’t be writing this blog I’d be sipping A Guinness brought to me by a bikini clad Kelly Brook in St Tropez. It’s testimony to the value of research instead of steaming in on a whim.

As an aside today, I wrote recently in my eletter about golf betting, well the Nedbank is a good example today.

In a field of 12, Westwood is 5.2, Rose ( who carded a final round 62 in Dubai) is 5.2, and Louis Oosthuizen is 5.8.

These could be dutched. Do bear in mind that I am only just cottoning on to the golf. But it’s a field of 12 , Westwood has won the last 2 Nedbankers, Rose is in superb form and Oosthuizen is at home .

Including Charl Swarzel who is also a local, you could win £47 by dutching these 4 with £100 stake, covering 1/3rd of the field.

That’s the beauty of some golf tournaments at this time of the season.

130pm – Genclerbirligi v Bandirmaspor – 1.22 home – the Turkish Cup – 9th in the Superliga v 5th in 2 Lig Table.

Only 3 defeats in 16 for gencler . Only 2 wins in 9 at home so they are going through a bit of a sticky patch.

Only 2 defeats in 13 in the cup, in 90 minutes, seem to be against top flight opponents only.

Only 1 defeat at home in the cup since September 2007 in 90 minutes.

Only 2 defeats in 14 for Bandir in all competitions. Undefeated in last 6 away.

Only 1 draw in the 7 cup matches they have played. Find it tough away with a 0-1 win, 0-0 draw and 4-2 loss to top flight Kasimpasa.

Not a match which is top of my list but it seems the home side will not lose. Value angles in? Not sure.

430pm – Panathinaikos v Proodeftiki – 1.11 home – a 2-0 home win from Oly yesterday in the Cup. 1.11 suggests pana can score 3+ but we need to check their motivation.  Only 2 defeats in last 13 for Pana , one against Lazio and the 2nd most recently against Platanias away.

No defeat in last 18 at home in all competitions.

Only 1 defeat since Oct 2009 in the Cup was at home to AEK Athens. 2-2-3-1-3 scored at home in the cup in wins, before the 0-2 loss to AEK.

Proodeftiki are a League 2 team – I am not sure if this is the English version of league 2 ( i.e. 3rd tier).

In 12 matches away in 2012, they have only won 2, both in the last 3 matches. They failed to score away in 1/2 of the matches they played.

Limited appearances in the Cup, 2 1-0 home wins, 6-1 and 0-0 away matches.

0-0 might be an insurance bet here. Pana look far too strong at home and if having an inkling of interest in this match, should win and win scoring 3 goals minimum as the 1.11 suggests. DO note though that these odds = goals are not as reliable in the Cup as in the League.

630pm – Trabzonspor v Urfaspor – 1.21 home – 7th in Super lig v 12th in 1 Lig.

Last 4 matches overs for trab, winning 2 and losing 2.  Last 2 defeats in 9 matches came at home, and in last 3 matches. In last 13 at home in the cup, trab have won 11, lost 1 and drawn 1 2-2. IN those cup matches at home they scored 5-3-2-1-1-6-2-1-2-3-2-3-2

Last 3 defeats in the cup since 2010 came away from home,against the likes of Besiktas , galatasary and Antalyaspor.

Only 1 win in last 10 in all competitions for Urf might see them vulnerable against better opposition.

It is a different story away – unbeaten in 13.

Have only won 1 away in 6 attempts in the Cup in 90 minutes and that was against a team called Batman – kersplat!

3 of their last 4 cup matches have gone to extra time so Urf might be able to prolong this match.

Be ware Trab! They are rock solid at home though in the Cup Urf’s opponents of late in the Cup don’t seem to be top flight.

715pm – Hertha Berlin v FC Koln – 1.65 home

only 1 team has scored in last 4 head to heads. These have been shared.

755pm – Rennes v ESTAC Troyes – 1.44 home – French Cup match. This is 8th v 2nd bottom in the top flight, and to be honest I prefer cup matches when there is a gap in the leagues.

Only 1 draw in last 25 for Rennes ( could be longer but soccerway only went back 25 matches) was a 2-2 draw so technically could have been a successful lay the draw trade.

8 wins and 2 defeats in last 10 in all competitions. The defeats came without Rennes scoring. Rennes have been caught short in the Cup against lower teams such as Le Havre, Guingamp, and have recently gone down in extra time against Lille and Le Mans.

They are unbeaten in their last 4 at home, winning last 3 in the Cup

Only 3 wins in last 20 for Troyes. These were tight wins, either 1-2 or 0-1.

Troyes only 2 wins recently were away and were in the Cup – gentle respite after being battered in the League?

Troyes are unbeaten in 7 in the league, losing in extra time in 3 matches. Both teams have scored in 8 of the last 9 troyes cup matches.

Troyes are very definitely up for the Cup so rennes should watch out. Avoid the draw for Rennes? Rennes seem to be vulnerable in the Cup. I would not dismiss the draw as Troyes are adept in recent times in taking cup matches into extra time.
