Kempton was an interesting meeting yesterday for one reason. It seems that the horses drawn in stall 1 had absolutely no chance whatsoever of winning in 10 runner and bigger fields and over shorter sitances – ideally 1 mile or less.

Time and time again, these horses drawn in stall 1 ended up at the back of the field and largely out of touch. This is something to watch out for at a later date, especially from a place lay perspective.

I just thought I’d share this with you. The horses in stall 1 have 2 options – firstly go hell for leather and try to beat 9 others and get to the front to have a chance, or secondly drop out at the back and hope to pick off horses.

This latter option seemed to be the most consistent pattern yesterday and left these horses with a mountain to climb especially over 6 furlongs.
